Education

Bio

Monique is a junior barrister employed by Sam Lowery. Monique’s practice focuses on commercial, regulatory and criminal litigation.

 

Prior to joining Bankside, Monique was a Judges’ Clerk at Te Kōti Matua o Aotearoa, Tāmaki Mākaurau rohe | the Auckland High Court.  In her second year clerking she also tutored criminal law at Auckland Law School and became a mentor with Pillars Ka Pou Whakahou.  She was admitted to the bar in May 2024.

 

Monique holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree and a Bachelor of Commerce (Economics) degree from Te Waipapa Taumata Rau | the University of Auckland, and graduated with a Faculty of Law Dean’s Academic Excellence Award.  During her time at university she won numerous mooting competitions, led the Mooting Society, and was an inaugural recipient of the Queen’s Counsel Scholarship.
