Simon Foote and John Walton appeared before the Foreign Affairs and Trade Select Committee on the Trans-Pacific Partnership on behalf of the Arbitrators’ and Mediators’ Institute of New Zealand at Wellington yesterday. The AMINZ submission promoted the suitability of investor protections and investor-State dispute settlement provision in the TPPA and debunked myths regarding loss of sovereignty and perceived regulatory chill as a result of the threat of investor claims and illuminated the process to resolve any disputes, particularly the requirements for transparency of proceedings.
