A book of essays, The Promise of Law, written to mark the retirement of Dame Sian Elias as Chief Justice of New Zealand has just been published by LexisNexis. Bankside member, Simon Mount QC, co-edited the essays with Max Harris, prize fellow of All Souls College, Oxford. There are sections devoted to legal history, indigenous rights, environmental justice, private law, administrative law, criminal law, human rights, and judging. Fellow Banksider, Peter Watts QC, contributed an essay:  The Release Fee as a Remedy for Breach of Contract: the Judgment of Elias J in Cash Handling in the Light of Morris-Garner.
